The term Rare Rebels™ was inspired by Susannah Fox’s book, Rebel Health, which highlighted the patient-led revolution that’s reshaping healthcare. Fox’s work emphasizes that the change we need in healthcare requires those who are willing to challenge the status quo. It’s about seekers, networkers, solvers, and champions who are driving progress in spaces where systems move too slowly. In the world of rare diseases, the science is ready, but the lack of treatments is largely due to small patient populations. The systems are broken because they’ve failed to consider the voices and needs of these communities. Rare Rebels™ seeks to unite those who refuse to wait—the ones fighting to rewrite the future for rare disease care. It’s time to build a new system, and we are the ones who will make that happen.
